Message-ID: <002401c9e558$3b13dcd0$b8758690@19ffa783137a4f4> THE TRIANGLE COMMUNITY OF GARDENERS NEXT MEETING: SUNDAY 14TH JUNE, at 10 am. We are going to tour the Narira Trust land, to choose a spot for our one-site community garden and also to identify the native flora existing there. It is of great significance for the area, because of its unique native grasses, old eucalyptus trees and orchids, etc. We hope we will be soon developing a community garden - in part of the Cobargo old golf course - preserving the natural vegetation and a rest stop with BBQ facilities. After the tour we will have a meeting at a private house. The exhibition will bring together an interesting collection of artists from the Far South Coast, all of whom have a love for the environment and the animals which inhabit it. Artists, including craftspeople, sculptors, and painters, will be exhibiting their interpretations and representations of native wildlife to raise funds and awareness of the work carried out at Potoroo Palace at Yellowpinch. A percentage of sales from this exhibition will be donated to Potoroo Palace to aid in the promotion of such a valuable community resource. Potoroo Palace is a native animal educational sanctuary, and is a not-for-profit organization. At present many of the animals living at Potoroo are native to the Merimbula area and include Long-nosed Potoroos, Swamp Wallaby, Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Short-beaked Echidnas and Bare-nosed Wombats. Many bird species are free to wander and fly into and out of the sanctuary, while many know when they?re on to a good thing and have made it their permanent home. One aim of the sanctuary is to show the animals in a habitat as close as possible to their wild homes, creating a safe haven for the animals and the plants that they rely on for their food source. Potoroo Palace also has a sponsorship programme for their inhabitants where individuals or groups are able to ?adopt? one of the resident animals. Sponsorships are available for $100, $250 and $500 per annum, and these will be able to be purchased at the gallery for the duration of the exhibition. Potoroo Palace is listed on the Environmental Register and has Deductible Gift Recipient Status so every donation over $2 is tax deductible. Please contact Spiral Gallery or Potoroo Palace if you would like more information about the sponsorship programme. The exhibition Potoroos and Others, will be officially opened by Keith Hughes at 5pm Friday 19 June, and everyone with an interest in and love of our unique Australian fauna are invited to attend. Spiral Gallery is located at 47 Church Street, Bega and is open Monday-Friday 10 am to 4 pm. For other info contact the Gallery on 64925322.
