We live in a busy little community. The arts are strongly represented in the Bega Valley Shire. Council are currently documenting our next twenty years. Our learning communties network is up and running. Our first newsletter contains updates from a few groups involved in our network. We would love to see a more comprehensive newsletter next time around. Next meeting proposed for March 2006 on the general theme of evaluating the effectiveness of environmental education programs. Bournda EEC to organise meeting details and agenda. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- University of Wollongong Bega Access Centre Research Project Patrick Hoddern has commenced work on to a research project sponsored by the university to come up with an appropriate Learning Communities Model for Bega Valley Shire, including steps and strategies for implementing the Model. The board will be developing a fresh and new approach to its programming and developing strategic alliances to be better able to promote and deliver learning to our community. The facility is centrally located in Rixon's Arcade and hosts 15 brand new PC's that are networked and provide speedy internet access and the latest software. Training courses currenlty under way in Bega include Certificate II in Business Administration and Basic Information Skills for Older Workers. Spaces are still available for anyone 45 yrs and older wishing to receive FREE training in Basic IT skills commencing 4th November 2005.
